A stone linga and a graceful stone icon of Kamakshi behind a consecrated Srichakra occupy the two main shrines of the temple complex. The temple has numerous subshrines with subsidiary deities, lingas, a Hanuman and a Navagraha group. A small, gleaming collection of bronze processional deities and brass kavachas are stored in a room bedside the sanctum, to be taken out for festivals. Relief sculptures of Siva, Parvati, Vishnu, Lakshmi and Ganesha in various manifestations adorn the mandapa pillars, walls, gopura and vimanas of the temple. Siva manifests as the dancing Nataraja, the furious Virabhadra, the mystical Mrityunjaya, and the charming married Umasahita. Baby Krishna is a favourite among the sculptors who depict him stealing butter, wrestling the snake Kaliya and lifting the mount Govardhana.
